Department of Civil Engineering at Piraeus University of Applied Sciences (P.U.A.S.) was upgraded in 2013, from the Structural Engineering Department established in 1983, having a unique studies direction of Structural Engineer.
Apart of the studies background provided by Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, the course in Civil Engineering Department focuses on knowledge concerning Structural design of small -and large- scale structures of various materials and geometry in conjunction with Seismic codes applied. In addition, Architectural design and Construction management in Civil Engineering projects or buildings taught in the Department intend to attain the student skills on designing economic as well as friendly structures to the environment.
Undergraduate studies offered in eight semesters with 240 ECTS include obligatory Thesis dissertation and Placement.
Postgraduate studies consist of three MSc Programs regarding the following subjects:
- Seismic and Energy Retrofit in Structures and Sustainable Development,
- Politics and Applied Methods for the Protection of the Environment,
- Construction Management.
Laboratories of Topography, Physics, Quality Control and Technology of Construction Materials, Strength of Materials, Soil Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete and CAD complete the research activities of the Department.
